How to Request a Solar Cable Quotation: An RFQ Checklist

What to Include in a Solar Cable RFQ

The minimum order quantity for solar cable depends on the supplier, cable specifications, and order requirements. Some suppliers may set a minimum for the total order, while others may set separate MOQs for different specifications or colors. Customization and packaging requirements may also affect the order conditions. Project owners should clarify the applicable MOQ conditions with the supplier before confirming an order.

The clearer the cable requirements, the easier it is for suppliers to prepare a suitable quotation. Clear, complete details help suppliers understand the request and reduce repeated questions during the quotation process.

Before requesting a solar cable quotation, prepare the following information to help the supplier understand your requirements.

  • Project information: Project type, application, or a brief description of the intended use.
  • Cable specifications: Cable type, model, conductor size, color, or applicable technical requirements.
  • Order quantities: The quantity required for each cable specification and the unit of measurement.
  • Packaging requirements: Required length per roll and any specific packaging instructions.
  • Delivery details: Destination, required delivery date, and known shipping requirements.
  • Supporting documents: Available technical drawings or project documents.

Sample Cable Specification and Quantity

If an RFQ includes several types of solar cable, list each specification on a separate line. Don’t group different cable sizes, colors, or models, as suppliers need to match each requirement with the corresponding quantity.

For each cable type, include the conductor size, color, applicable specification, and required quantity. For example, you may specify H1Z2Z2-K solar cable with a conductor size of 6 mm², a black outer sheath, a quantity of 5,000 m, the required current-carrying capacity based on project specifications, and the applicable standard. This example is for illustration only and doesn’t represent an actual order or a recommended cable specification.

Order and Delivery Requirements

In addition to the cable specifications and quantities, you also need to define how the cables should be packaged and delivered. If each roll or drum needs to contain a specific length, then this requirement should be included within the RFQ. Any special requirements for packaging, labels, or cable identification should also be stated.

Using delivery information, the supplier will ascertain the order’s destination and required delivery time. You need to provide the destination country and city. Include the warehouse or project site address if available. It is also important to state the acceptable delivery period, as well as any confirmed shipping or delivery requirements.

Supporting Documents for a Solar Cable RFQ

The type of cables you need depends on the project, so you may need to provide additional documents to clarify specific cable requirements. The following materials can help the supplier recommend suitable options.

  • Application and equipment information: If you are unsure which solar cable to choose, provide details about where the cable will be installed, the connected equipment, and the relevant system requirements. Equipment datasheets or installation drawings may be useful references.
  • Special technical requirements: If the project has specific requirements for cable construction, environmental resistance, or certification, share the relevant project specifications or technical clauses. This allows the supplier to check whether the proposed product matches the project.
  • Existing product references: If the cable is intended to replace an existing product, provide its markings, model number, or datasheet.

Solar Cable RFQ Checklist and Template

The following checklist provides a simple format for organizing project details, cable requirements, delivery information, and related technical documents before sending an RFQ.

Submit Your Solar Cable RFQ with Clear Requirements

Preparing a clear RFQ before sending it to suppliers can make the quotation process more efficient. Buyers only need to fill in the currently available information and indicate the information that still needs to be confirmed.

Send your completed RFQ checklist and any available supporting documents to Hualuo Cable. We can review the requirements with you, confirm the necessary details, and prepare a quotation based on your needs.

The minimum order quantity for solar cable depends on the order structure, product requirements, and supplier conditions. To confirm the applicable MOQ, project owners can provide the required cable specifications, colors, and quantities for each item and ask the supplier to confirm the corresponding MOQ conditions before placing an order.
